Approximately 440 students attend classes in prep to year 7. Over the coming years the school will grow to include years 8 to 12. A specialist school for up to 50 Wyndham students with specific needs will open in 2010. A highlight of Manor Lakes College is the one-to-one laptop programme for all year 7 students. Pupils have direct access to online learning resources. In addition to adding more classes over the coming years, the school's facilities will also grow to include a gymnasium, a performing arts centre and a sporting oval. Our Lady of the Southern Cross Catholic Primary School offers students a unique educational experience with traditional classrooms replaced by a light, open space for up to 150 prep to year 6 students. The space is ventilated using a solar powered system that extracts warm air from the building and replaces it with cooler air in the evenings and at the same time providing ample natural light. A performing arts space has been opened and children will learn horticulture in the school's vegetable patches. Students of Our Lady of the Southern Cross will also learn art, Mandarin as the Language Other Than English (LOTE) and religious instruction. Our Lady of the Southern Cross is under the control of the St Andrews Parish together with three other local primary schools; Corpus Christi, Bethany and St Andrews. Students from all four of these local Catholic primary schools will be eligible to gain direct entry to the MacKillop Secondary College in Werribee. A terrific feature of both schools is that they work together on many aspects of school life. The facilities and resources of the schools are being shared, including the professional learning of staff. In addition, before and after school care is housed at Manor Lakes College for both schools. This service is run by Quantin Binnah Community Centre. Above all, both schools are working together to ensure that education in the Wyndham Vale area is of most importance.
