Community groups share $18,600 in Community Fund grants

More than 20 community groups share $18,600 in funding
Twenty-two local community groups received a much-needed financial
boost and share in $18,600 following the presentation of the 2009 Manor
Lakes Community Fund grants on Wednesday 5th August.
Now in its sixth year, the Community Fund is an initiative from the
Manor Lakes project manager the Dennis Family Corporation and during
this time more than $108,000 has been donated to approximately 120
Wyndham community groups.
Congratulations to:
1. 1st Iramoo Scout Group - Leader training
2. 4th Hoppers Crossing Brownie Guides - New trestle tables
3. Corazon Care - Therapy for special needs children
4. Create Wyndham - Art therapy for people with a disability
5. Galvin Park Secondary College - Training for a peer support programme
6. Hararian Community Association Australia Inc. - Sporting activities for disadvantaged youth
7. Honour Avenue Playgroup Inc. - Bike path in play area
8. Iramoo Community Centre - New equipment for childcare programmes
9. Little River Kindergarten - Purchase puzzles
10. Manor Court Werribee Aged Care - Purchase games to promote movement for residents
11. Noah's Ark Inc. - Buy and install a washing machine
12. The Salvation Army Wyndham City - Purchase a lawn mower, whipper snipper and edger
13. Uniting Aged Care - Build a Sensory Garden for residents
14. Victoria State Rose Garden Supporters - Replace garden pruning loppers
15. Warringa Park School - Funding toward a "Poss-Abilities Expo"
16. Werribee Baptist Church Playgroup - Playground bike track
17. Werribee Community & Education Centre - Three day camp for refugee families
18. Werribee Little Athletics - Replace and repair equipment
19. Werribee Parkinson's Support Group - Respite outing for people with Parkinson?s and carers
20. Werribee Plains District Scout Association - Purchase an outdoor PA system
21. Western Suburbs Lymphoedema Support Group - Funding for a day trip
22. Xtreme Life - Support for a 10 week programme for primary and secondary girls
Adele Levinge, Dennis Family Corporation Executive Director,
congratulated the 22 successful groups and wished them well with their
wide range of projects. "These groups make an outstanding contribution
to the local community and we hope that with this extra funding they
will be able to further continue their efforts."
